Two BRIC researchers start their own research groups
CAREER Chiraq Nepal from Andersen Group and Diego García González from Khodosevich group have both received funding to start their own research groups outside the University of Copenhagen.
Chirag Nepal from Andersen Group has joined Loma Linda University in California, as an independent group leader. His lab will be associated with “Center of Genomics” at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. The research interest of the lab will be broadly focused in understanding the general principles of gene (dys)regulation in cancer, to address i) Transcription start sites selection in translation regulation in cancer ii) Understanding the mechanism of CpG islands hypermethylation in cancer and iii) The roles of onco-histones in shaping SNV and CNV landscapes.
Diego García González from Khodosevich group has joined the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS) as young group leader. The research interest on his lab will focus on understanding how the brain develops and the origin of some psychiatric disorders originated during brain development such as autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia or anxiety, etc.
