Eva Kummer Selected for Prestigious International Programme
EMBO announces new exceptional scientists, who represent innovation and excellence in their fields, to join the EMBO Young Investigators Programme. BRIC group leader Eva Kummer is selected.
For 27 new scientific group leaders, New Year’s Eve this year marks more than the arrival of the new year: it also marks their selection as active members of the international network. From January, Eva Kummer will join the EMBO Young Investigators Program.
“It is a great honor to become part of this prestigious program along with some of the best emerging research group leaders in Europe and beyond. My group and I are already looking forward to the scientific exchange, which will help us to spark new ideas, approaches and maybe even collaborations,” says Eva Kummer.
Recognition of research
The network supports young Principal Investigators (PIs) who have been group leaders for less than four years by offering network opportunities, training in laboratory leadership and responsible conduct of research. Moreover, they receive an award of €15.000.

Director of EMBO Fiona Watt calls the young investigators “a group of exceptional scientists who represent innovation and excellence in their fields” in a press release, and Eva Kummer recognizes the acceptance as a acknowledgement of the research conducted by Kummer Group:
“It is a great confirmation that the group is doing relevant research that will hopefully have an impact in our field,” Eva Kummer says.
It is not the first time in her career as group leader that Eva Kummer has been recognized for her research. When her group was established in 2021, she received the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Hallas-Møller Emerging Investigator grant, which is awarded to highly promising new group leaders with novel and ambitious projects.
